A long-time professor of English at George Washington University, Moskowitz taught creative writing and Jewish American literature. She was the author of four collections of memoirs and short fiction: A Leak in the Heart (1985), Whoever Finds This: I Love You (1988), And the Bridge is Love (1991), and Peace in the House (2002); she also edited the anthology Her Face in the Mirror: Jewish Women on Mothers and Daughters (1994). Moskowitz was a fiction editor for Lilith Magazine, served as president of the Jenny McKean Moore Fund for Writers from 1975-1999, and won multiple PEN Syndicated Fiction Awards.
