Lewis Schneider, who published under the name Israel Lewis, was a mechanical engineer and writer of short fiction, essays, and poems. He published in Aurorean, The Delmarva Review, Innisfree Poetry Journal, and the anthology Strange Attractors: Poems of Love and Mathematics. He co-authored two survivor accounts of the Holocaust, now in the archives of the Holocaust Museum.
Lewis concentrated on writing after his retirement, enrolling in writing workshops at the University of Maryland, George Washington University (through the Jenny McKean Moore seminar), and American University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. He married twice and is the father of two children.
