Jean C. Bower was born in Queens, NY and educated at Vassar College and Georgetown University Law School. She served as Director of the Counsel for Child Abuse and Neglect of the DC Superior Court, and received the 1984 Beatrice Rosenberg Award from the DC Bar Association.
Bower’s poems appeared in the anthology In a Certain Place (SCOP Publications, 2000). She served on the Board of the Folger Shakespeare Library for many years, and was chair from 2002 to 2006.
