Richard Eberhart was Poetry Consultant to the Library of Congress from 1959 to 1961. He is author of 14 books of poems, including A Bravery of Earth (1930), Reading the Spirit (1937), Burr Oaks (1947), Undercliff (1953), The Quarry (1964), and Shifts of Being(1968). He received the 1966 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for his Selected Poems.
Eberhart taught at Dartmouth College for thirty years. President Dwight D. Eisenhower appointed him to the Advisory Committee on the Arts.
