Brown is the author of a novel, Crying Girl (2019). She taught English in the Prince George’s County Public Schools for a decade and served in leadership roles in the Toni Morrison Society. In 2005, she was selected to participate in “Language Matters II: Reading and Teaching Toni Morrison,” an intensive, week-long masterclass, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities at Northern Kentucky University. Born in Silver Spring and educated at the University of Maryland, she was Iranian-American and spent part of her childhood in Tehran.
